Free speech on college campuses has long been an endangered species, thanks to the idea that it is trumped by the right of leftists not to be offended by anything someone else says. The inevitable result has been speech codes, “trigger warnings,” and the concept of microaggressions (unconscious bits of discrimination only discernible to the offended, such as saying “he” when the gender of the antecedent is unknown or irrelevant). One female college student recently complained about a professor who used the word “violate,” in reference to breaking a law. Apparently, it made her think of rape, even if the law he was actually talking about was the law of the conservation of angular momentum.  CONTINUE READING HERE
